her ears pierced.

This was a very hard decision for me to make. I went back and forth for days. I think baby girls are so beautiful with out their ears pierced. They don't need any extra beauty. I didn't do it for Ember to be more beautiful. I think she is the most precious thing on this earth.

I was afraid of it hurting her. I was afraid that she would grow up and wish I hadn't done it. I was afraid of her being mad at me. After talking to our pediatrician (who by the way pierced them for her)...He reassured me that the pain of getting it done would be far less then the pain of receiving her shots. Made sense to me. I have had mine done, and had many shots....I would rather get my ears pierced any day. Also if she grows up and doesn't want them anymore she can take them out...

I think Ember is precious. She melts me to the core. I cant imagine ever hurting her.

After a few tears from me I held my baby girl tight against my chest and watched as her pediatricians pierced her tiny little ears. Just as any other baby would, she cried. She was scared. I turned her around and held her close. Calming her down was easy. She looked into my eyes and finally gave me a smile.

It was not the experience I was dreading.
It was perfect.

  2. That is an amazing picture. I had both my girls' ears pierced as infants (2 months and 5 months)and I think it's easier on everyone involved that way. One of them even slept straight through the piercing. :)

  6. Those eyes are going to be man-killers in time!

For what it's worth, I've never had mine done, and would not let either of my girls have them until they were old enough to make the decision for themselves. Have always felt that it was an injury they needn't have if they did not want to. One did: the other didn't! Just offering another angle for discussion!

    Good luck Ember!

  9. Omg. her eyes. they make me melt inside.

I got my ears pierced when I was sixteen because my mom wouldn't let me do it before. I always wanted them pierced. I thought earrings were the best thing ever. Now I hardly remember to change my earrings. haha.

Anyways. I think you made a good decision. If she doesn't want them, she can take them out and the holes will close up.

  10. Ashley,

Was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours. Started reading and came to your recent post about piercing your ears. She looks totally adorable. I did our dd at about the same age.

This was a perfect age to pierce her ears! I promise you were a smart mommy for doing it as an infant so she'll just grow up with them. Promise you will have many moms envious of your decision and wish they had pierced their girls as infants. Babies and little girls with little pierced ears celebrates their femininity and femaleness.

Our ped encouraged me doing it when mommy could care for them. Also, she gave me some tips for moms having their dd's ears pierced. Would be happy to share by e-mail with any moms wanting more info or trying to decide " to pierce or not to pierced."
