MMM2

I love to go to the gym and work out, but sometimes its honestly just not possible....I may miss a day here and there...so I love some at home easy workouts.
For the work outs I'm going to show you, you'll need two things....

Any size medicine ball.
Any size weights.

Start as you normally would with bicep curls, with your arms fully extended at your sides. Curl the weights halfway up and lower back down for seven reps.  Lift the weights only half way each time.
Then start at the half way point and do another seven reps to the top motion.
Lastly do another seven full reps from bottom all the way to top motion.

Do 21's  in three to four sets.

Stand with feet wider than shoulder width, holding your medicine ball above your head, arms straight and abs contracted. Bend your knees to squat down while moving your ball in an arc across your body,  bringing it to the outside of your calf.  Reverse the move and return to starting position, raising the ball as you stand.
Repeat on opposite side.

3 reps of 20 on each side.

Muscles worked:
External obliques
Internal obliques
Quadriceps
Gluteus maximus
Gastrocnemius
Hamstrings
Middle deltois
Anterior deltoids
Trapezius
Transverse abdominis

this routine also totally kicks my trash and you don't need any free weights.

Like usual I took my photo outside! Our lighting is awful. I know I say this almost every post, but it really is and this still is not the best lighting... I promise it was even prettier and more delicious than this picture gives it justice.

Pico de gallo
Ingredients:
4 cups ripe red tomatoes diced
1 clove of garlic, minced
1/4 cup diced onion (about 1/4 of a small white onion)
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
2 jalapenos (stems and seeds removed optional) diced
1/2 cup green onions
1 lime, juiced
Salt to taste

Method:
1. Mix all the ingredients, simple right!!!!

One pound...ha yay:)
So I wont lie I was a little disappointed in today's weigh in....until I remembered this picture. However I do think it is time to start thinking about some more short term goals...It may take to long to hit where I would like to be while staying motivated if I don't. SOOOO should we say lets try for two pounds by next MMM!:) and if I hit my goal..I'm totally treating myself to a manicure!:)

and just to make you smile..
bla ha ha!!

  2. I think 21s are a great exercise (except I usually call them sevens...I guess it sounds easier haha). Maybe I'll try the squat exercise you showed once my legs stop being sore from lunges this weekend!

  3. I don't know why that's so funny. My abs of steel are always setting off metal detectors! ;) Thanks for the at-home workouts! I'm too self conscious to go to the gym so I always work out from home.

  4. Good exercise info and a yummy recipe. We all need more veggies and this is a great way to get them.

  6. Perfect timing! I've been trying to run every night but I need to lay off a bit since my shins have been kiling me. I like the cardio/strenght routine you posted. I was just thinking I need something like this to do at home at days I don't run.

  7. Ha! Too funny. Good thing there isn't a soft squishy detector. Your pico is a good reminder that its still summer for a few more days!

  11. Ashley, thank you for the healthy recipe and exercise tips! I'm working on getting my buns back in shape, and definitely feel motivated to go out and by some hand weights and a medicine ball.

I really appreciate having a post from a smart, healthy, and fitness oriented perspective be a part of "A Little Birdie Told Me..." Tuesday at Rook No. 17.
